Student Research and Creativity on Display at 3rd Annual Showcase

ALBANY, N.Y. (May 6, 2025) — The University at Albany hosted its third annual Showcase last week, a day-long event that brought together the entire University community to highlight the academic excellence of students.
The event featured poster displays, oral presentations, demonstrations, panel discussions, recitals, art exhibitions and performances that reflect new and original exploration of topics in STEM, arts and humanities, social sciences and the professions.
More than 2,000 students presented across all nine of UAlbany’s schools and colleges, including 1,350 undergraduates and 650 graduate students.
UAlbany Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Carol Kim brought the Showcase to campus in 2023, modeling it after a similar event she originated at the University of Maine during her tenure there.
“Each year, this event has grown, giving more students the opportunity to conduct and present original research and creative works,” said Kim, at the Showcase morning reception. “Whether you are interested in nanotechnology, public health, cybersecurity, political science, the arts, computer science or one of the dozens of other disciplines represented on campus, there is something at Showcase for you.”
On hand to view students’ work were other students, faculty and staff, as well as family and community members, and government, industry and community leaders. More than 400 middle and high school students from eight schools spent the day on campus, taking in poster presentations, demonstrations from drones to dance, and getting guided tours of the University.
The event featured a total of 1,333 presentations supported by 415 faculty advisors.
“This event is a feat of organization, imagination and problem-solving. It is also a testament to the incredible value of higher education and the research and scholarship we are doing here at the University at Albany,” said President Havidán Rodríguez. “These students are the embodiment of UAlbany’s mission.”
